Arts Centre Extension
A two-storey major extension to an existing theatre venue, providing a café/restaurant, exhibition space and workshops.
The extension is proposed on two sides of an existing open space, closing it off to provide a more intimate enclosed central courtyard.
The main structural element is a sinuous curving rammed earth wall running through the extension, constructed in layers of different coloured earth to create a banding/strata effect.
A series of angled full-height glazed screens create an openness between the courtyard and the new facilities. |
